Aixin symposium‐5

Chinese Youths Part 2

August 20, 2005 AIXIN MUSEUM

"The fifth time Aixin Museum symposium" was held in the museum on Saturday, August 20. As the last time of a series, being inspired by the theme of the third time "Chinese Youths" which had gained public favor, the topic was continued into "Chinese Youth Part 2".

Zhang Jian, a Chinese staff of the Museum, spoke about young people in China and their view of labor. They are actively pursuing their desired career and wages. In order to obtain the desired career they often quickly change jobs. Zhang also spoke about the current labor market in China and the younger generations' opinion pertaining to the current market situation.

According to Zhang, although previous generations lack the ability to pursue a desired career, the younger generation has more freedom to select and establish a career.

Further discussion focused on the continuing state of change in China, and additional topics pertaining to public welfare, pension system and unemployment rate. The symposium ended with a session for questions and answers.
